Jolly LLB addresses many issues; terrorism, corruption, government officials’ apathy and does a fair job of it. But it’s a Hindi film. It has to crack jokes; after all, it’s an Akshay Kumar messy film yaar. So like most Hindi films, it runs on two parallels; an important murder case and a bunch of jokes that have little or no relevance in the film. But who am I kidding? The film will work anyway. It has Akshay Kumar, funny one-liners, and a Holi song. There I can already see a blockbuster written all over it!
2.) Ratings:2.5/5 Review by Manjusha on GulfNews
Akshay Kumar’s satirical courtroom drama, Jolly LLB2, has its heart in the right place but it is as long-winded as the trials in Indian courts. It’s a tale of a struggling small-town lawyer, Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly, who takes on a murder case and finds himself in the center of an elaborate police cover-up. A few twists towards the climax unraveling the mystery around the murder seem unnecessarily convoluted. But Kumar has enough star power to keep us engaged in the first half.
3.) Rating: -/- . Review by Rohit Vats on Hindustan Times.
A film demands a good research when it’s based on the theme of corruption in Indian judiciary and Jolly LLB 2 scores well on that front. Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is the backbone of this story. His dialect, theatrics, dialogues, everything is spot on, but he is yet to deliver a powerful speech like Arshad Warsi. With a fantastic support cast like Saurabh Shukla, Annu Kapoor, and Inamul Haq, Jolly LLB 2 looks like a winner. Director Subhash is clearly in command of a story that seems to have a well-written screenplay.
4.) Review by Surabhi Redkar on Bollywood Hungama
Akshay Kumar fans and Jolly LLB fans both will be satisfied with this film that has a mix of comedy, emotion and some serious commentary on judiciary system. Jolly LLB 2 is entertaining as well as hard hitting. Saurabh Shukla is a stunner while Akshay is once again at his best. A 3/5 for this film.
5.) Rating: 4/5. Review by Meena Iyer at Times of India
On the face of it, apna Jolly is a novice indulging in petty crimes because he knows the loopholes in the law. At home, he is the hen-pecked husband of lush, Pushpa Panday(Huma) who loves whisky, Gucci dresses and her chubby son in that order. But these are just asides and not the main premise of courtroom drama, which in many ways follows the template of the 2013 prequel, Jolly LLB. Akshay changes shades from crooked to straight, like a chameleon. In top-form, he puts up a perfect display of a street-smart lawyer who hasn’t read legal tomes but who has instead picked up tips from courtroom corridors to become Jolly LLB.
6.) Rating: 3.5/ Review by Shubhra Gupta on Indian Express
Jolly LLB 2 is the kind of film Hindi cinema used to make at a time when its primary activity was to tell a rousing tale, using star power to embellish it. This sequel of Jolly LLB, infinitely superior to the first, brings back the joys of watching a movie with a solid plot, a strong sense of time and place and rhythm, and a confidence in itself that has been missing from Bollywood. Yes, there a few dips, and some slips, but on the whole, this Akshay Kumar-starrer is a win.
7.) Rating: 3.5/5. Review by Taran Adarsh on Bollywood Hungama
On the whole, JOLLY LLB 2 comes across as a powerful courtroom drama which is laced with humour as well as emotions. With Akshay Kumar’s star power, positive word of mouth and almost zero competition at the box office, JOLLY LLB 2 has the potential to grow huge at the box office. A must watch.
