Jagga Jasoos Movie Review

1.) Rating: 3/5. Review by Sameeksha on news18.com

Entertaining, experimental and adventurous to the core, Jagga Jasoos is definitely a stepping stone towards a genre not yet explored by even the biggest of Bollywood filmmakers. A beautiful ode to Satyajit Ray, Feluda, Sherlock Holmes and Tintin at the same time indeed.

2.) Rating: 3.5/5. Review by Niti Bhave on Times Of India

I spy with my little eye an experiment that works for the most part. For a film industry that adheres to certain rules of using music, Jagga Jasoos is an undeniable experiment. The screenplay is structured as chapters from a comic book; the movie uses a classroom full of kids and their teacher, Shruti (Katrina) as its main storytelling device. The films unfold as she narrates stories from the book, and we’re pulled into Jagga’s (Ranbir) world of makeshift houses, merry characters and rhyming dialogue.

3.) Rating: 3.5/5. Review by Rohit Vats on Hindustan Times

It’s a cliché, but no other word can sum up Jagga Jasoos better: Cinematic. Well, that’s it. Jagga Jasoos is the most ‘cinematic’ film you have seen in the recent months. Plunge to never come out of the world of Jagga Jasoos.

4.) Rating: 3.5/5. Review by Ahana Bhattacharya on Koimoi

I would highly recommend watching this musical with a fresh and interesting script and nice music. This is surely one of Ranbir Kapoor’s best performances.

5.) Rating: 1.5/5. Review by Shubhra Gupta on Indian Express

In the near-three hours of the run time of the film there’s everything else, with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif chasing bent spies, arms dealers, and sundry other smaller fry, while, of course, saving the world but it forgets to give us a story.

6.) Rating: 2/5. Review by Tushar P Joshi on Bollywood Life

Jagga Jasoos is only worth a watch for Ranbir Kapoor’s class act. As a musical, the film falters on several notes.

7.) Rating: 3/5. Review by Saibal Chatterjee on NDTV Movies
If Jagga Jasoos, for all its deviations, passes muster, it is largely due to a pivotal star turn that is worth its weight in gold and the heartily surreal touches that Basu imparts to this colorful, imaginative fantasy. It might take a while for audiences accustomed to more familiar generic idioms to get into the spirit of the film. Once you do it, it could be pretty easy to see that Jagga Jasoos has enough enjoyable passages to keep you hooked to its defiantly askew rhythm. But the line separating the two possibilities, be warned, is thin indeed.
